About this bike

1964 AJS 500cc Model 18 Statesman with 1961 Watsonian sidecar SV Chassis MKII with an Avon super sports body.

Engine number: 18/134905

Frame number: A87184

The AJS 500cc Model 18 and AJS Model 18S are 500 cc British motorcycles almost identical to the Matchless G80 and both were produced in the same Associated Motor Cycles (AMC) London factory from 1945 to 1966.

Specifications; engine displacement of 498.00 cc and a total power of 28.00 hp (20.4 kw) @ 5600 rpm with a single-cylinder engine, 4-stroke with kick start.

1961 Watsonian sidecar SV Chassis MKII with an Avon super sports body. Body number N1530. Built in 1961, an SV MKII Chassis with an Avon super sports body.

Motorcycle was rebuilt over the past few years. It is in fair condition and still needs tidying up and minor maintenance.

The motorcycle is registered; it is unfortunately registered as a homebuilt by the local traffic department; this however should not be a problem as all AJS enthusiasts will know it is original and can be checked online on numerous sites.

I have fitted indicators and all relevant items for roadworthy but have not done the test.
